staff or faculty member mentor application
Loper2Loper Mentoring is a program designed to pair first-year students with bet36365体育 staff, faculty, or graduate students in order to foster academic, personal, and professional development. Loper2Loper Mentoring is semester-based, meaning it lasts for one semester. Loper2Loper does not run during the summer term.
Loper2Loper is geared towards all first-year students. A first- year student is anyone who is in their first year at bet36365体育. This includes freshman and transfer students. All students are welcome to apply, however, first-year students will be prioritized during the mentor-mentee matching process.
In order to develop a meaningful relationship with your mentor, we recommend that you set aside a minimum of 30-60 minutes every week or two to connect with your mentor. Connecting with your mentor can be something as simple as sending a text or email, or you may choose to meet with them face-to-face.
Mentors can help answer questions you may have about campus resources, help with professional networking opportunities, and help you feel more connected to bet36365体育. Whether your mentor is a staff member, a faculty member, or a graduate student, they can share their expertise and help support you on your academic journey.
The first step is to submit an application, which you can find below. The application is an opportunity for you to tell us about yourself and we’ll use this information to match you with a mentor who will be a good fit. You can share about your reasons for wanting a mentor, your academic interests, your hobbies, and anything else that you might want us to know about you. From there, give us at least two weeks to get you matched. If it takes longer than two weeks, we will reach out to you to let you know.
Once you are matched, we will send an email to both you and your mentor to get you connected. From there, it will be up to you two to decide on a time to meet and fill out the Mentoring Agreement. The Mentoring Agreement is an agreement between you for how often you want to meet, which days/times work best, and a place to decide upon your goals for the mentoring relationship.
After that, you and mentor are set to meet throughout the semester!
Yes! If you are a commuter student and are able to commute to campus, you can meet with your mentor in-person. Or if you do not want to commute to campus or if you are an online student, FaceTime, Zoom, Skype, texts, calls, and emails are all available ways for you to connect with your mentor.
If you decide to reapply for an additional semester, you will be matched with a new mentor. If you would like to continue a mentoring relationship with your same mentor then you do not need to re-apply; it will not be monitored by Student and Family Transitions, but we will always be here to help if you need anything.
We love questions! If you have any questions or concerns about Loper2Loper, or any questions about bet36365体育 in general, please email us at sft@baoqiuyue.net.
